Parent FAQ
Parents, be assured that the Mimanagish Staff and Singing Waters Montana Board have a high priority for safety in every aspect of Camp operations. Below are our most frequently asked questions, should you have more please contact Cathy Barker at cbarker@mimanagish.org.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
Campers sleep in simple bunk cabins, with two counselors in each cabin. They are separated by gender with allowances for gender fluid campers. Every youth camp has plenty of trained adults present and attentive, at least 1 adult for each 5 campers. Adults are at least 5 years older than the oldest camper.
Can they take showers?
Yes, showers are encouraged! The Bathhouse has private stalls and private showers with space for showering and changing behind a curtain.
Can a kid call home if they need to?
We have no cell service at Mimanagish, and the internet is for staff only. We have a land line they may use with supervision. If a parent wants to check in, we’ll usually have a staff member give you an update rather than interrupting the program and pulling a camper away to a phone.
Do you take their phones away?
No, phones are handy as a clock, flashlight, camera, etc! There’s even a time each day when they can listen to music or play a game (without internet).
How much free time do they have?
The schedule is busy, with programs, chores, team-building fun & sharing. They have a bit of down time before and after meals.
Is there a medical person there?
Yes, we have a nurse on staff for the youth camps, and the summer staff have First Aid training.
