Getting Gritty camp will give campers going into grades 5 and 6 a chance to unplug, a pocketful of tools, and a network of caring people. Despite best efforts, no one can prevent adversity and daily stress in the tumultuous lives of students; but at Getting Gritty we strive to prepare campers to be more resilient by reframing how they think about future challenges and adversities. Trained facilitators, leaders, and counselors will provide meaningful conversations and strategies that campers are sure to use in their changing lives. Stir into the mix games, hiking, art, archery, singing, great food, campfires, and new friends… and everyone will have a great time!
Program Leader Tajali Theresa Tolan is trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Family Life Educator working in the field for 35 years. She holds an MS in Educational Psychology and a BS in Child Family Education and has worked in the field for 35 years. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Mindfulness and Peace Educator and is passionate about teaching social-emotional and mindfulness skills. Specializing in creative expression, communication, healthy parent-child relationships and peace work, her business is The Consciousness Project–Empowerment Life Coaching.www.Be-brilliant.com
Note: While Getting Gritty is an opportunity to gain healthy life skills, it is NOT a therapy experience. Campers need to be stable emotionally and mentally to attend. Cancellations before this time will incur a $50 cancellation fee (to account for additional administrative duties) with the balance refunded. No refunds will be offered after this time as our teams have already staffed and purchased food & supplies for your attendance.
