Report from the Silver Linings Department

Cloud 1: Some of you may remember twelve years ago when a microburst felled enormous trees behind the Bathhouse and Full Moon, then went on to flatten the forest in the Lower Camp. Stunned by the damage, those of us who saw it felt flattened ourselves. But then we turned around and saw – Mount Hawley!

Some summer camps have fancier lodging than we have; some have rest rooms right in the bunk cabins. We don’t have that kind of luxury (though we have some nice upgraded lodging). But if you go out at night, you get to see the stunning view of the night sky! One fellow saw a “gob-smacking view of the Milky Way”. Another took the time to take this photo of the full moon and the Chapel.

Another silver lining!

Cloud 3Losing a major user group due to retirement left a big gap in the June schedule – and in the revenue budget too. What a disappointment!  But there was a silver lining: When the Howlett family wanted a gathering in memory of Greg, that’s the weekend they requested. Later Susan (Elli) Elliott’s family wanted to gather in her memory, and we had an opening for them, too. These retreats are poignant, and full of love.
